Actually... Apple computer owners tend to be the most discriminating and generally will be less likely to accept something like that. I have seen very few comments regarding significant backlight bleeding. It's safe to say that any wide spread issues tend to show up here pretty quickly. If you've only had it for a week, you should simply be able to return it for a replacement (although I'm not sure about the return policy in Berlin). Generally, you can return your machine within 14 days. If you have a hardware issue during this time, a replacement is generally more common than a repair (unless you have a CTO machine). When you say 'Apple Repair Shop', do you mean an actual Apple store an an Apple Authorized Service Provider? Unfortunately, Apple does not have a great deal of control over their Authorized Providers. You may need to contact Apple directly if you want the problem resolved. If you have been working directly with Apple, I would suggest you bring to their attention that excessive bleeding is not common on the machines you have seen.

Mac OS X - Either copy the Bleeding Cowboys font file (s) to /Library/Fonts (for all users), or to /Users/Yourusername/Library/Fonts (for you only).
