Abstract
Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins 1940 – The RKO film studio employs a 24-year-old prodigy, Orson Welles, under a contract that gives him full control over his films. For his first film, he invites drunk Herman J Mankiewicz to write the film. The film is “Citizen Kane” and it is the story of its writing. Alone at his fantastic estate known as Xanadu, 70-year-old Charles Foster Kane dies, uttering only the single word 'Rosebud.' So ends the odyssey of a life. And begins a fabulous tale of the rise to wealth and power-and ultimate fall-of a complex man: A boy abandoned by his parents inherits a fortune, builds a global newspaper empire and aspires to become President of the United. Kane is a satirical short form (2-3 hours) turn-based RPG that streamlines the genre to its basics; fighting monsters, talking to people, playing dress up. Dungeons are minimalist, graphics are monochrome. Random battles are no more, bosses are numerous. A Shark guides the way. An original hip hop soundtrack provides the beats. Citizen Kane Font - Graphic Design Forum I don't think I've ever seen anyone's picture on their resume before and I don't think I like it. Newspaper magnate, Charles Foster Kane is taken from his mother as a boy and made the ward of a rich industrialist. As a result, every well-meaning, tyrannical or self-destructive move he makes for the rest of his life appears in some way to be a reaction to that deeply wounding event.
Lecture traces the rise of High Modernism vis-a-vis cinema, focusing on why mainstream American film didn't adapt modernist tropes until Welles's 1941 debut feature Citizen Kane
